Micro-Barrier Container
Several years ago, after numerous discussions among various members and representatives of the AU, IF, NPA, and the American Pigeon Fanciers Council, it was decided to seriously pursue the possibility of shipping pigeons via the United States Postal Service. It was eventually decided to launch an intense lobbying campaign in Washington, D.C, in an attempt to convince the USPS of the practicality and profitability of accepting pigeons for shipment via Express Mail. After a protracted period of negotiations, and with the assistance of a professional lobbyist funded primarily by the resources of the AU, the US Postal Service was convinced to accept live pigeons for shipment via Express Mail.
To avail yourself of this service, you simply take the birds right to the window at your local post office and tell the clerk you wish to ship them via EXPRESS MAIL. However, the birds must be shipped to a zip code for which overnight delivery is available, and the birds MUST be shipped in a CONTAINER APPROVED BY THE USPS.
The MBC was the first such container, and it was followed on the market by the Bird N.E.S.T., which is manufactured by Horizon Micro Environments. Use of containers not pre-approved by the USPS can be construed as a violation of US Postal regulations. The MBC is manufactured by Tanner Products, Inc. of St. Louis, MO. Tanner Products does not sell retail, and offers their product through a network of independent distributors throughout the United States.
